Welcome to Little Lamp Bible Stories! Today, we’re discovering how God made a beautiful world. Let’s begin! Have you ever stopped to look at a tiny flower, a soaring bird, or the stars at night? Our world is full of wonderful things. The Bible begins with a story about how God made the heavens and the earth. Let’s listen to the creation story, one day at a time.

In the beginning, the earth had no shape and was empty. Darkness covered the deep waters, and the Spirit of God moved over the waters. There were no gardens to explore or birds to watch. But this was the beginning of something wonderful. God was making a world.

On the first day, God called light into being. Light shone into the darkness! God saw that the light was good and separated it from the darkness. God called the light day and the darkness night. Evening came, and morning came. That was the first day.

On the second day, God made a great space between the waters. God called that space sky. Imagine looking up into that wide, open sky. Below it stretched the waters. The world was taking shape, with room for all that was still to come. Evening came, and morning came: the second day.

On the third day, God gathered the waters together so that dry ground appeared. God called the dry ground land, and the gathered waters seas. Now there were places where things could grow. But the story of this day was not finished yet. Something green was about to appear!

God made plants grow on the land: plants with seeds, and trees with fruit that held seeds inside. Little seeds could grow into more plants and trees. Imagine all those leaves, colours, and shapes! God saw that it was good. Evening came, and morning came. That was the third day.

On the fourth day, God made lights in the sky: the sun to light the day, and the moon and stars for the night. These lights would help mark days, seasons, and years. The sky had bright wonders of its own. God saw that it was good. That was the fourth day.

On the fifth day, the waters filled with living creatures, big and small. Birds flew across the sky. Imagine fish swimming through the sea and wings spreading above the water! God blessed these creatures and told them to multiply. God saw that it was good. Evening and morning marked the fifth day.

On the sixth day, God made the animals that live on the land. There were many kinds, from large animals to little creatures moving close to the ground. The land was full of life. God saw that it was good. Then God made people, with a special place in this wonderful world.

God made people in God’s image, male and female. People were given responsibility for the living things on earth. Every person has value, and we can treat one another with kindness. God looked at everything that had been made. It was very good. Evening came, and morning came: the sixth day.

By the seventh day, God’s work of creation was finished. God rested from that work, blessed the seventh day, and made it holy. After the making came rest. Let’s pause for a moment, too. Take a gentle breath and think of one wonderful thing you noticed in the creation story.

What would you like to look at more closely today: a leaf, a bird, or the evening sky? The creation story invites us to be thankful for God’s world. We can care for plants and animals, keep places clean, and be kind to people. There is so much to notice, and so much to care for.
